The Lenten Season is one of reflection, meditation and repentance. We often fast in this time, denying ourselves some of our habitual indulgences as we re-enact the 40 days Jesus fasted in the wilderness as he prepared to begin his ministry. We fast in preparation for Easter Sunday.

This Lenten Season of 2021 you are invited to experience some of the practices and rhythms of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. Different from a retreat in which you experience the Exercises themselves, we’ll simply let some of the rhythms inform our scripture readings, prayers and reflection, and maybe make some habits in the space we create.

You’ll have passages and exercises for each day of the week except Sundays, and we’ll have time on Monday evenings at 8pm to gather in prayer and reflect on what we’re reading and experiencing. You won’t need more than ten minutes a day to keep up. And by Easter Sunday you’ll have a journal of prayers, meditations and ideas from all we’ve experienced together.

If you’re interested in joining this 40 Day journey, please send an email to Rev. Todd to make sure you receive directions, Monday night invitations and readings. Our adventure begins on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 17.

Our prayer and theme for the entirety of the Lenten Season are the familiar sentiments of Psalm 19:14, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.”
